Newtonlink Options - Export/Import/Sync Newton Cards
Newtonlink is able to import Newton cards to a desktop system, export card informations
from a desktop to Newton cards and to synchronize Newton cards with card informations
on your desktop system.
Import
While importing Newton cards Newtonlink gets all card informations via
Sloup and writes them into an intermediate file ~/.newtonlink/newtonlink.cards.
This file is written in the common Addressbook file format. After that, other
filter routines convert this intermediate file into a file format for
the supported desktop cards programs. You can edit the name and path
of these desktop card files in the Newtonlink config file.
Export
Exporting desktop cards to Newton cards is currently only supported in the
Addressbook option. Newtonlink reads the file ~/.newtonlink/newtonlink.cards.send,
which has to be in Addressbook format, and sends them to the Newton cards via
Sloup.
Synchronization
Sorry, this option comes soon.
Option -adr : Import/export/sync Newton cards with Addressbook

Option -nsadr : Get Email addresses from Newton cards for
Netscape addressbook
newtonlink -nsadr
This function gets all person and company email addresses from
your Newton cards and generates a Netscape addressbook file. You can edit the name
and path of this file in the Newtonlink config file.
- Old addressbook files are moved to
address-book.html.bak (Navigator) or
abook.nab.bak (Communicator).
- Addressbook aliasnames are build with last and first name
together lowercase.
- This option works for the older Netscape Navigator. The newer
Netscape Communicator (version 4.04 or later) uses a different
berkley database format for the addressbook. Thanks to
Robert Nicholson for
reporting this problem. The Communicator is not directly
supported, but Newtonlink moves the addressbook file
abook.nab to abook.nab.bak and writes an
addressbook file address-book.html. During the next
Communicator startup this file is automatically converted to the
new version.
